Andrea Mecacci

Abstract

Starting from Hegel’s notion of end of art and Hölderin’s reflection on destination of poetry and ending with a brief examination of material culture of the Sixties and postmodernism, this essay assumes the modern switch from the central idea of art to the rise of design as main aesthetic phenomenon: the narration of the work of art becoming commodity.
