Author Guidelines

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it being considered for publication by another journal.
  2. State if the paper is a RESUBMISSION of a previously revised paper and refer to previous paper protocol number.
  3. The authors include a cover letter indicating the highlights and importance of the presented research in about 50 words.
  4. Full first name, surname and email address of all authors are included during on-line submission (Add Author button).
  5. The submission file is in Microsoft Word or RTF, document file format.
  6. Running title and no more than five keywords are provided.
  7. Lines in each page are automatically numbered. The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font and employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses).
  8. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographical requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in the section About the Journal.
  9. References in the Literature cited section are in alphabetical order according to first author’s surname, and in chronological order if more than one paper by the same first author is cited.
  10. When the URLs to access references on-line are provided, including those for open access versions of the reference, the URLs are ready to click (e.g., http://pkp.sfu.ca).
  11. Tables are prepared with a "table function" and are included in the manuscript file after the Literature cited section.
  12. Captions for figures are included in the manuscript file after the tables.
  13. All illustrations and figures are placed in separate files in .tif, .eps, or .jpg format for PC, and are not smaller than final size with high resolution (not less than 300 dpi).
  14. The photographs are of high quality (in-focus, good contrast, well-lit), and they illustrate the point clearly. They have been cropped to exclude unnecessary details.
  15. Consistent style and sizing is used for all figures, and lettering on axes of graphs is of sufficient size for final reproduction.
  16. The English language has been revised by a person familiar with the English language.
